I heart the Browns again.Just like you do with a bad boyfriend who always disappoints you, I dumped the Browns mid-season. I couldn't stand having my heart broken every week anymore, and I had to tell myself not to care and just let them go.
I got a new boyfriend...the New Orleans Saints. Ever since I visited the area in 2005 (before Katrina) I fell in love with the city and the people. My Facebook friends who live in LA (and I don't mean Los Angeles!) keep me updated on their team, and I watch their games whenever I can. Who Dat!!!
Before you go thinking I'm some fairweather floozy...I've been a Browns fan all of my life, living and dying with the Kardiac Kids and cheering through the Bernie Kosar era. I met several of the players, including Bernie, when we all worked a charity event together back in the day, and they are great people on and off the field. I stuck with the team through the stupidity of Art Modell and all of the other ups and downs along the way. I've supported my man through thick and thin, but he had finally broken my heart for the last time this season. I'd had it.
I must say now though, my Browns have come begging me to take them back and give them another chance, swearing that they have changed and will do their best to never hurt me again. I'm starting to believe them, since they did not give up on the season and won the last four games. They aren't just telling me pretty words, they're backing them up with their actions. I'm falling in love with them all over again.
While I still support the Saints and will be cheering them on in the post-season, the Browns and I are back together, and long live our relationship!
I feel your pain (and your joy!) Marie! The Browns really are like a bad boyfriend.
