Hello, Scott Fujita!

In my first post for this blog, called Why Who Dat Nation Gives the Dawg Pound Hope, I wrote about how the now-defending Super Bowl champions, the New Orleans Saints, gave me optimism for Next Year. This welcome is overdue, but at least I can say I made the overture before preseason. On March 7th, another glimmer came from The Big Easy when the Browns announced they signed former New Orleans linebacker Scott Fujita. With eight years in the NFL and (I cannot stress this enough) a Super Bowl ring, Fujita has 19 sacks, five interceptions, nine forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries as a result of his time spent with Kansas City, Dallas, and New Orleans.

In a statement, GM Tom Heckert said, “Scott possesses tremendous size for a linebacker, and this will allow him to play inside or outside in our 3-4 defense. He has been a starter throughout his career, has been exposed to several different defensive schemes and has been successful in all of them."

I’m sold. Maybe some of Fujita’s New Orleans can rub off on Cleveland. I don’t expect a trip to the Super Bowl next year (although anything is possible), but I am cautiously anticipating a decent season, and maybe, could it be? A trip to the playoffs? What would that be like?
